Burundi visa for Bangladeshis

Burundi requires a visa. UK government advice says to apply online on the Burundi migration website before travel, collect a validation certificate, and receive the visa on arrival; it quotes US$90 for a one-month single or multiple-entry visa, payable online or in cash on arrival. The Burundi migration portal (migration.gov.bi) is the official site, but its public pages did not show a fee table when we checked, and we found no Burundi mission in Dhaka. Bangladesh-specific rules are therefore marked for confirmation. The UK government advises against travel to parts of Burundi, mainly near the DRC border. Last checked 6 November 2026.

Quick answer: Security advisory: UK FCDO advises against all travel to parts of Burundi, including areas of Bujumbura Province near the DRC border (Mugina, Cibitoke, Bukinyayana, Bubanza, Mpanda), the RN5 north of the airport, and the RN6/RN10 roads through Kibira National Park. Burundi-DRC border activity has increased.. Visa needed?: Yes, a visa is required (UK government advice). Bangladesh-specific rule not seen on an official Burundi page; confirm.. Confirm before you pay.

Security and health warning

Official source checked
  • The UK government advises against all travel to parts of Burundi, including areas of Bujumbura Province and roads near the DRC border, because of possible rebel presence and armed incursions. Melchior Ndadaye International Airport is the only international airport; land exits are limited, with the Rwandan border reported closed. Travelling against official advice may invalidate travel insurance. Travel Counsellor Ltd. does not recommend travel against official advice.

How to apply

Official source checked
  • UK advice says you complete the online application on the Burundi migration website (airport entry visa or transit visa form), receive a validation certificate, and then get the visa on arrival. The official portal lists a visa application page, a visa information page and an airport entry visa page. Use only the official domain, because third-party sites add charges.
  • We found no Burundi embassy in Dhaka. Contact the Commissariat General des Migrations or our office to confirm the procedure for Bangladeshi passport holders before paying.

Total cost

  • Government fee: US$90 per one-month visa, online or cash on arrival (UK government advice, 6 November 2026). Check the amount on the official portal before paying. Travel Counsellor Ltd. service charges, if any, are quoted separately in BDT by our office. Fees change; decisions rest with Burundian authorities.
